Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah believes the 2024-25 season represents his strongest opportunity to claim the prestigious Ballon d’Or, following a phenomenal campaign that saw him lead the Reds to the Premier League title under new manager Arne Slot.
Salah has been in sensational form, racking up 28 goals and 18 assists in the Premier League alone. His attacking brilliance not only places him at the top of the Golden Boot race but also puts him firmly among the front-runners for football’s most coveted individual award.
Now 32 years old, Salah recently signed a new two-year contract extension at Anfield back in April, cementing his commitment to the club. With the Ballon d’Or 2025 ceremony set to take place in Paris on September 22, many football analysts are tipping the Egyptian forward to lift the trophy.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Salah reflected on what has arguably been the best season of his career.
“I’ve never had a season like this — winning big trophies, performing at this level. I think this is my best chance to win the Ballon d’Or while I’m still at the club. It’s been a crazy year, a crazy season, and I believe it’s given me a real shot at the award.”
Salah faces stiff competition for the accolade, with Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal and Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembélé both enjoying title-winning seasons of their own. But Salah’s consistency and leadership throughout Liverpool’s campaign could be the deciding factor.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot also echoed Salah’s optimism during a press conference on Friday.
“What he’s done this season is truly remarkable. He’s had great years at Liverpool, but this one stands out — especially when you consider the numbers and the fact that we won the league,” Slot said.
“He’s not the only player with a standout season, but if there’s ever been a time for him to win the Ballon d’Or, it’s now. And if not, I’m sure Mo will come back even stronger.”
Salah’s pursuit of the Ballon d’Or highlights not only his world-class ability but also his relentless drive to improve — qualities that have made him a modern-day legend at Anfield.
